Obituary of Jerre Lynn Vogt
On July 16th, 2023, our family suffered a deep loss with the sudden passing of an amazing woman, Jerre Lynn Vogt. She had a special influence on every life she touched. Her strong spirit was kind, gracious, patient, and tremendously supportive. She was a lifelong Cardinal baseball fan, an avid reader, gardener, cook, game player and traveler. Her family especially enjoyed her homemade cookies and soups! Jerre left a legacy through the many lives she touched during her teaching career in Missouri and Florida, retiring at the age of 82. She and her husband were local entrepreneurs, supporting the community with charity and being involved with important family events through their restaurant Courtyard on Grove.
Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother of three, stepmother of four, Gma to seventeen grandchildren, and Grandma Jerre to twenty-four, beautiful great grandchildren. Jerre is survived by her sister Dodie Weltlich (husband Robert, children-Steven, Mark, Julie), daughter Daune Ellis (husband Mark, children-Carley, Sean, Sadie), daughter Leslie Buddemeyer (children-Andrew, Benjamin, Nicholas, Brenton), son Jeffrey Young, stepdaughter Stephanie Nichols (husband Dave, children-Sarah, Chad), stepdaughter Holly Hartzell (husband Mark, child-Kayla), stepson John Vogt (wife, Maureen, children-Jesse, Josh, Jamie, Jayden, Jordan), stepson Craig Vogt (children-John, Abraham).
She was an incredible mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Although she is no longer with us, the memories we share will always be with us. We will lean on those memories to guide us through this profound loss. May she rest in peace.
To honor and celebrate her life, her family requests that gifts be made in her name to support Barth Syndrome Foundation Science and Medicine efforts, a cause which was very important to her and continues to be supported by the family. Please click the link to donate:
