Obituary of Dave Clark
Dave Clark, 72, the love of my life for 43 years and locally known as “Dr. Dave” for over 30 years died peacefully on April 19th. He wanted to be known as an honest, hard-working man. His customers appreciated his diligence and persistence.
Born in Tennessee, he grew up mostly in Jacksonville and Orlando but surfed up and down the Florida east coast. He was an accomplished guitar player and singer and loved boating and fishing.
He was a geology major at FSU when Uncle Sam grabbed him and he wound up as a depot-trained helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. It pretty much changed the trajectory of his life. He managed to turn his love of geology into an impressive rock and mineral collection, half of which we collected ourselves in journeys out West.
We met and lived in Tallahassee for 10 years, where we owned property in the woods and had huge gardens.
He graduated from FIT outboard school and started his own outboard repair business in 1991. He had a shop at Honest John’s Fish Camp but retired in 2019.
Everyone who saw us could tell we were totally in love, up to the bitter end.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
His wife,
Judy Copeland
