Virginia was my sister-in-law for 62 years, and though we did not see each other much in these later years, it was ALWAYS a joy to be welcomed into their home, because Virginia was the “Hostess par excellence”, always going out of her way to make you feel WELCOMED. But in the earlier years, when she and my brother lived in the same house with us, and later, before I moved to Florida, I was always amazed at her creativity and the effort she put into running an efficient and beautiful home. She had a lot of adjustments to make at first, moving to a new Country, as a new bride, and soon-to-be mother.
I remember fondly the last time I saw her before my brother got sick. Her joy was expansive and contagious, and she made you feel like your visit was the event of the year. She couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome, comfortable and taken care of. She was truly an extraordinary person, and though I miss knowing she walks among us, I feel even closer to her now that she is surely a Saint in Heaven.
