Obituary of Thomas J. Martin Jr.
Our America soldiers don't fight because they hate what's in front of them. They serve because they love what's behind them. Thomas J. Martin, Jr. loved and protected his country. Thomas was a jack of all trades and a master of most. Thomas had a heart for all animals big and small, that taught him humility, patience and balance. On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, we learned how terrible it is to love something that death can touch. After 75 years, Thomas left this world for the next. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known his love with wonder, not grief.
Thomas was born on a U.S. military base in Santurce, PR in 1946 and spent his formative years in Manhattan, NY. He enlisted in the military and contributed to the manpower of our great nation, upholding the ideals of our American freedoms in Vietnam as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He was a long time resident of Hazlet, NJ where he helped raise his family before retiring to Palm Bay, FL.
Thomas was a wonderful son, brother, husband, and father. He lived life as if tomorrow was not promised and left this world with very little regret. His love for animals consumed him at times and will never be forgotten. Thomas was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Gloria Martin, sister Lona Rae Williams, and grandson John Joseph McGlinchey. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of fifty one years Susan Martin, his daughter Tracy McGlinchey, his son Thomas J. Martin III, his son-in-law Brett McGlinchey and granddaughter Arianna McGlinchey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
