Obituary of Duane D. Podhola
Duane D. Podhola, 74, of Palm Bay, FL passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022, with his loving wife Janet by his side. Born in Carpentersville, Illinois, he was the son of the late Milo and Lorraine Podhola.
Duane lived with cancer for the last 15 years of his life. He battled the disease with the most amazing grace, bravery, and strength. He lived every day with positivity and determination to not let the disease keep him from doing the things he loved.
Duane served in the United States Air Force for 12 years and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After his time in the military, Duane worked as a Civil Servant while simultaneously pursuing his Graduate Degree from Golden Gate University, CA. After 33 years of service, Duane retired from his government position as a GS-13 and began working as a logistics engineer with Harris Corporation until his retirement. Duane was a wonderfully giving person who loved to laugh and enjoyed spending time with those he shared his life with.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet Podhola; his son Brian; his daughter Vickey; beloved dog Abby, granddaughter Lauren (Ryan); grandsons Lane and Riley; great-grandchildren Kayden and Charlotte; brothers Darrell (Kaye) and Darwin (Gayle); sisters Darlene and Dawn; as well as many special nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his sister Diane; and brother Dean.
Duane will forever be in our hearts and missed very much every day. Family and friends are welcome to attend his celebration of life on February 20th at 1:00 PM at the American Legion Post 117, 189 Veterans Dr. SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
