The first time we met Dom and seen Urn. We were hooked and made a friend forever.

So it's not really one memory, just bits from all our interactions. We had lots of birthday parties and other gatherings over the years, and even a performance or two. Charlie had a way of looking you straight in the eye when you were talking. You just knew he was listening. He'd bob his head and give a little half laugh. Watching him with the kids was the best. He wasn't one of those parents who only played with his own child. He played any that were around. He loved his family so much. I'm so very sorry you lost him so soon.

Charlie was my godfather. His obituary describes him to a t. I will never forget the occasions of picking Charlie up at Monroeville Mall. Charlie would ride a Greyhound Bus from John Caroll in Cleveland to come visit family in Pittsburgh. Every time he came to visit he had Hermit Crabs with him. As a kid I always imagined giant crabs only to find these tiny crabs in a shoe box sized container. During his visits he always has his guitar with him and would play requests for everyone. Charlie was a giant in my eyes. A towering strong man, Charlie always allowed my brother Tim and I to pounce on him and wrestle him. We would jump onto his feet and he would trudge through the yard with his two younger cousins strapped to his feet like boots. He would laugh and make sounds the entire time. After his visit we would call to check that he made it home safely. We always asked how the hermit crabs were and the answer was always the same, “they died.” I can’t tell you how many hermit crabs that happened to.
We love you and will miss you dearly. We already do. I will miss my birthday phone calls where we would always talk about grandma who passed on my eleventh birthday. Anytime I would call Charlie I would make sure that I had a full
Battery because he could talk for hours and hours.
You have left this world too soon but you have left the world a better place. You lived in peace Charlie. You were a great person.
Love,
Bubba, Jen, and Tristan

We only met in person once at NAMM, but he made me feel like a long lost friend. He was warm and funny and talented. My heart breaks for his wife and daughter. He was a beautiful light in this world and will be missed by so many.
