Obituary of George J. Colburn
George J. Colburn touched many lives in his 95 years. He was a Marine, a carpenter, a police officer, public servant, a mentor, a cowboy and a 52 year friend of “Bill W”… he spent his entire life helping others overcome obstacles and find a better way of life.
His warm demeanor and charmingly eccentric personality had a way of making those around him feel special… as though they were “Number One” to him. People were naturally drawn to his friendly and caring disposition. He was a friend to all; humans and animals alike.
George left this earth on 6/25/2021 to join his father, mother and sister in Heaven. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carleen, 11 children, 34 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. His family was everything to him, and between the story telling and tossing dinner rolls, our family gatherings were always memorable.
Dad, we miss you already and will every day but rest easy and know you taught us well.
George was passionate about supporting St. Jude’s. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
