Obituary of Fred Alexander Bynum

Fred Alexander Bynum, 80, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. To his beloved wife, he was known as Fred. To his children, he was known as Pop. To his grandchildren and to his great granddaughter, he was known as Pappy And to his myriad friends and coworkers, he was known as Big Fred, Coach, and Mr. B. Fred Bynum was: A man of wisdom, strength, courage and honor. A man of depth, compassion, and kindness. A man of honor and loyalty. A man of humor and laughter. A man who deeply loved his wife, his family, his myriad friends. and his God. A man of God. His daily walk demonstrated character and integrity. These qualities were readily passed down by him and his wife to his children and to their spouses, to his grandchildren and to his great grandchild. He lived “big,” and he lived with passion and with exuberance. In doing so, he exercised his unique ability for seeing the best in others and for encouraging them along the way as they recognized and then utilized their natural giftings. He did not seek the limelight. Instead, he made certain others were highlighted and honored. He reveled in success stories, and he loved walking alongside those in need. In doing so, he was a quiet giver of time, of energy, of money, of food and shelter, of a bed for the night or longer, and he was a quiet giver of himself! He was a “true life” gardener. He prepared the soil; he planted; he nurtured and watered; and, he harvested the fruit of his labors. These same steps were followed when he worked with thousands of young men and women, helping them prepare for the rigors and challenges of life. And, this continued after he retired when he continued to love on and to mentor the young, the old, and the in between. To know Fred Bynum was to love him and to be loved by him. His legacy will live on through his family and through his many friends. And, the seeds he planted during hours of daily prayer will take root and grow, plus be answered in God’s time. Services will be at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 19, at the Park Avenue Baptist Church, 2600 S. Park Avenue, Titusville.
