Obituary of Alberta Coolbaugh Klipple
Alberta Coolbaugh Klipple passed on July 2, 2019.
Born June 23, 1917 at Skyline Farms in Milwaukee, PA she had just celebrated her 102nd birthday!
Alberta married Floyd W. Klipple on April 22, 1937 and they moved into the brick house on the corner in Scipio Center, NY where she resided until 2002.
She requested that she be remembered as A FARMER’S WIFE.
Her husband Floyd preceded her in death in 1985. She was a lifetime member of Scipio Chapter #173 OES, being district deputy in 1969, a member of Scipio Community Church, she served as organist and choir director there for 45 years.
Always active in community affairs and the lives of her family members, some passions were gardening, cooking and baking, reading, following God’s word and enjoying the beauty of the His creation.
When Floyd enlisted in WWII, she was 8 mos. pregnant and had a 17 month old daughter.
As a centurion plus, Alberta lived and taught the lessons of her generation:
– rewards were given for work done
– discipline started at home but didn’t end there. Teachers, neighbors and police were encouraged to continue it as necessary.
-charity was extended to anyone in need.
She attributed her long life to hard work, following God’s Word, chocolate, blueberries, potatoes, bread and butter. Many children in Scipio were taken fishing or swimming but only after cleaning a cupboard, helping to wallpaper a room, waxing the Winnebago or picking fresh berries.
She loved being barefoot, winter picnics, handcrafts, traveling, and open windows in the bedroom year round. She served meals to anyone around her table- and no matter how many people showed up, there was always enough. She was expert in the canning and preserving of everything.
Alberta is survived by three children, Linda (Dick) Surace of Columbiana, OH, Mark (Patty) Klipple of Columbiana, OH and Marcy (Steven) Torrant of Palm Bay FL, where she lived her last years. In addition, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and two granddogs.
Alberta Klipple lived an extraordinary life made up of ordinary moments that she made special by her unflagging dedication to each one of them. She will be remembered and missed.
Burial will be at Scipio Community Cemetery, conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star, date to be later determined.
Tributes in her memory can be directed to charity of your choice. The best tribute will be to do your best where you are, with what you have, every day.
