Our deepest sympathy to RoAnne and her family, Mary and Mark Sorensen and Stephen and Sarah. It was a great pleasure to know George and share some of his passions with him– engineering, aeronautics and baseball to his lovely childhood sweetheart, RoAnne. We are thrilled they were able to spend some wonderful years together celebrating love, life and family. We offer our condolences to all of George’s family. He will be missed. We will continue to love him in our prayers.

RoAnne, family and friends, please accept my sincerest condolences on George’s loss. It’s never easy to say goodbye yet I find this one more difficult than I expected. This gentle spirit wowed someone very precious to me, my adopted Mom, RoAnne and became a truly cherished figure to me and our small band of friends here in Ohio. Ever meet someone that you immediately liked? That was George for me. His wry wit, gentle smile and a voice that was soft yet filled with humble strength and wisdom commanded my ear. I will never forget him and am blessed to have had him in my life.
May our God comfort you, hold you close as you grieve and remind you that, while you grieve, you can do so with the hope of an eternity with Him, an eternity that George has just begun. With my deepest love,
Andy

So sorry to learn about George. I had the pleasure of meeting George on several occassions as he wed one of my cherished family friends, Roanne, in 2009. I know that he and Roanne were blessed to spend the last near decade together and experience love and companionship. It is truly wonderful to be a Christian and know without a doubt that he is with our Heavenly Father. May the Lord bless and comfort Roanne and George’s remaining family with treasured memories. With love

Dearest RoAnne and Sorensen family, the Thomases in Columbus send love and heartfelt condolences for your loss. We had several occasions to spend time with George and RoAnne and know how much joy and fun they found in their love for each other. George cherished RoAnne and lovingly embraced her family and friends, and we were fortunate to have enjoyed his friendship. We take comfort in knowing he’s with the Lord.
We love you RoAnne and Mary – let us know if there’s anything we can do to help in any way as you traverse this difficult time of loss.

George was an incredible man. His sense of humor, and genuine caring for people made him a person to be admired. We enjoyed hearing stories of his time at NASA and enjoyed his commentaries on politics. We were blessed to have known him as our “uncle”, and thankful that he was a part of our family, even for a short time. Continued prayers for you, Aunt RoAnne, and the Damoff family. George will be deeply missed by many.

I am so sorry for your loss. No one should have to endure the pain of losing someone so dear. We were never meant to experience pain, grow old and die. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) It was not until sin was committed by our first parents, Adam and Eve, that death was introduced to the human family.(Romans 5:12) We can give thanks to our Heavenly Father who lovingly sent his only begotten son to pay the ransom sacrifice for our sins. Because of this we will have the opportunity to see and hold loved ones that have fallen asleep in death in the very near future! You will be able to hold your precious father, grandfather, brother and friend again and you will never have to fear ever saying goodbye. This is a promise from God! (John 3:16; John 5:28, 29) Jw.org

I will forever be grateful for George saving my life while swimming in one of the springs in Central Florida while our families were on a picnic together with McDermott’s and others. I was with my friend and thought it would be a good idea to snorkel across the diameter, never having had a snorkel on before. Started swallowing water out in the middle and George saw me struggling all the way from the shore and swam to rescue me. Eternal rest, George and thank you.
