Jeff and I and family are very saddened to hear of the passing of a charming man. Jeff and I had the pleasure of meeting him and found him to be gracious and warm. His Italian heritage is familiar to our family. We respect the courage and effort it takes to leave a country, start over and work hard in order to provide a better life for your family and others. May his example, love and memories live within you.
Sincerely, Jeffrey and Christine Dann

My heart breaks with the passing of Grandpa, and I am sending so much love and many condolences to the family during this difficult time. Grandpa was such a vibrant man, who brought so much laughter and joy into all of our lives.
Over the past week, I have found myself reflecting on all the memories made over the past years. I reflect back on our Italy trip when Grandpa took Jason, Pete and I on a grand tour of his beautiful country. One of my fondest memories from that trip was walking around Torrito, the town where he grew up, and hearing him tell stories about his childhood. I’ll never forget when he ran into an old friend who still lived there, and they laughed in disbelieve with tears in their eyes as they embraced for the first time in decades.
Another time that stands out is when Grandpa made various trips across the country (by himself!) to visit Jason and I in San Francisco. We have memories going to Italian dinners with Grant and Syd, cooking breakfast together at our apartment, touring the city and showing him the place we called home. It was so special to have him visit San Francisco, a city that has become such a major part of our lives.
I feel incredibly lucky to have known Grandpa. We will miss him every day. He was a hardworking man who showed the power of the American dream as he built a foundation for his family in coming to the States from Italy. He was kind, determined, and worked hard to provide the best life for his family. I truly admire his strength.
He is with us, always. Love and prayers from me, to each of you. RIP Grandpa, Nicolino Mattiace.
With love,
Erica Dann (soon to be Mattiace) <3

The Pettepher Family
Our hearts go out to your entire family. Although not all of us knew Mr. Mattiace, it was not hard to see the love He had for his family. He was a very honorable man, one who cared for friends as well. I know first hand what it feels like to lose a Father. All.
of our family did. And then our precious Mother many years later. The only thing that comforts us is to know that one day, we will see them again. And to know that we have precious family here on earth to love and care for. I thank God that your family is so close. Please know that you are loved, and that our family is here for you if you need us.

Sadden to see such a great man pass, but we now know he is at peace. As a young boy, I took a great liking to Mr. Nick. Such a happy person inside and out, he would light up the room when he entered. He played a key role within the family’s lives and will always be a part of them- his beautiful legacy will live on. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring man. Love, thoughts, and prayers from my family to yours.

I love you all♥️ Your Chinese girl will always miss you and your “how you do’s”, grandpa!

So sorry for the loss of your loved one. It is never easy to lose a loved one but the Bible has promised we will see our loved ones again. God has the desire to fulfill the promise of a resurrection. He has a “yearning” to restore life to the people who have died. (Job 14:14, 15)
