Obituary of James Lloyd Flora

James Lloyd Flora, was born November 1, 1932 and lived in Rocky Mount, NC before vacationing to Florida and getting sand in his shoes, which prompted him to move the family to St. Petersburg and then Orlando.  He then moved into his youngest daughter’s home in Indialantic to be near the ocean for his last 10 years.  Lloyd upgraded to his mansion which was finally ready for occupancy on Sunday morning September 9, 2018. He grew up the son of a sharecropper and retired from the US Postal Service. His Mom, Dad and seven brothers and sisters who preceded him are ready to welcome the baby of the family home for their eternal reunion.  Following the award of his Summa Cum Laude honors diploma, we invite you to eat dessert in recognition of Lloyd’s motto “eat dessert first” starring Lemon Meringue Pie and other sweet tooth delicacies. Grandpa leaves on earth big pieces of his heart recognizable in his three children, Earl, Cynde and Donna; his daughter-in-love, Barbara; his eleven grandchildren Joshua, Rebekah, Tiffany, Andrea, Trevor, Ben, Jonathan, Aaron, Tim, Sarah (aka Bumblebee) and Hannah (aka Butterfly);  four great grandchildren Dylan, Hailey, Lainey and Dawson; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; his sister-in-love Ruth Flora; and wife Shirley. As a thank for his service in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, military honors at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery will launch him with a well-deserved 21 gun salute to his heavenly destination. His graduation celebration will commence Friday, September 14th at 6:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 3301 Dairy Road, Melbourne, FL.  Please pay your respects with a chuckle and a smile every time you think of him.  He certainly left a legacy of joy. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his name to William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Pkwy, Palm Bay, FL 32907. We were “Blessed Beyond Belief” to call him Son, Brother, Husband, Uncle, Dad, and Grandpa.
