Obituary of Don J. Whitt
March 18, 1937 ~ December 24, 2018
Don J. Whitt passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018 at home with his wife Marjo of 61 years, son James Whitt, and very close friends, Belle and Aquiles Cordovez at his side. His eldest son Howard Lee Whitt, went home with Jesus on May 9, 1982.
Don was born in Shelbiana, Kentucky. His parents, Eleanor and Lee Whitt are deceased. He has a brother, Ronald Dean Whitt and sister, Anna Lee Williamson still living, five nieces, Jennifer Orsborne, Laura Smith, Liz Salamone, Kimberly Whitt-Coleman and Susan Whitt-Taylor; and one nephew, Johnny Williamson. He is also blessed with one granddaughter, Renee Tomb, and two great grandchildren, Emilie Tomb and Evelyn Tomb.
Don graduated from Pikeville High School in May of 1955. He was a great basketball and football player, President of his class all 4 years. He attended Pikeville College and Eastern Kentucky State College. He served with the United States Marine Corp from 1956-1958.
Don moved his family to Florida in 1960. He retired from Harris Corporation in Melbourne, FL after 32 years. Calvary Chapel Melbourne was his church home. He served as a greeter, prayer partner, and in the church’s Hospital Ministry for many years. When someone asked him how he was, he ALWAYS said: “I’m Blessed”.
Don now is truly blessed as he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Don’s Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Calvary Chapel Melbourne, 2955 Minton Road, West Melbourne, Florida.
