I only met Mike once, as he was hanging out with his good friend Jerry. Since he didn’t know me, when I walked into the room with my “freaky hair hat” he said to Jerry “look at that dude’s funky hair,” and Jerry said “that’s who we’re waiting for”! Mike was very interesting to talk with, and I’m sorry I missed the opportunity to see him after that day!

Mike was a childhood friend with my brothers. I can still see the boys walking down the street to go swimming at the rock pit a few blocks away now known as ELake with million dollar home. Mike was my mother’s favorite kid in the neighborhood and always asked about him. Vicki who has been my best friend since Jr high would come to the house in later years and my mom would say how’s Mike not oh Vicki how are you what have you been up to but how is Mike what is Mike up too. We all will miss out childhood friend and my thoughts and prayers are with his daughters, Chris, Kim and my buddy Vicki.

We are deeply and sincerely sorry for the Jensen family’s sudden loss. We are deeply saddened and words are of no help in expressing the sorrow we feel. We would like to express our sincere condolences to Lauren, Nicole, and the Jensen family. Every time I hear the song “Simple Man” I think of Mike.

Lauren was my very first friend when I moved to Florida from Michigan. When Lauren and I started spending more and more time together, I then got the privilege to meet her wonderful father, Mike. From the moment I met this man, I realized that there aren’t many genuine, loving, selfless people out there and I also realized that is why Lauren and her sister are such wonderful women. Mike will truly be missed by the many many people that surrounded, and loved him. You are very loved and missed everyday. Rest easy Mike. Xoxo

Uncle Mike was one of my earliest musical inspirations and one of the main reasons I kept at it as a young kid. We would go to his house to visit Lauren and Nicole, Aunt Dana, and Mike, and he and I would just sit there all day playing his piano and guitar super loud. He had an awesome music studio right in his living room and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. He was into classic rock and roll and showed me what it’s like to turn the volume way up and play awesome music (I only played classical piano lessons at the time and did not like it, so his style was eye-opening and way more fun.) Those are some of my earliest memories in life and I know they helped shaped me into who I am now.
Mike was a great guy and I am thankful we got to reconnect at Nicole’s wedding. I’ll always appreciate him for getting me excited about music and rock and roll.
May he rest in peace! To Lauren and Nicole: I love you both very much and am always here for you.

I met Mike at my childhood friend’s home back in the early 70’s. He was a close friend and surfing buddy of my friend’s two older brothers. I naturally looked up to Mike and thought he was a great guy. As we all know, this is a small world. So it is not too surprising that later in life, Mike and my sister Dana were married. They were a natural fit and had a great time together. Mike and Dana loved the beach and boating, and Mike would spend hours and hours and hours driving the boat while Dana water skied – he had tremendous patience! Mike and Dana have twin daughters they both loved and were very proud of! My children, Lauren and Nicole loved to listen to Mike play guitar. Mike liked playing music with my son – very fun times. We’ll all miss Mike and cherish the times we had together.
