Dom Zack taught me how to make beautiful Architectural Lettering.
He taught me the discipline of work, de-rusting old reclaimed farm machinery.
And he taught me, along with his wife and his son Jeff, the loving nature of a warm home – with rules, consequences, decency and respect.
I remember him fondly and wish all of you the best.

Dear Connie and Family,
We enjoyed living next to you in Florida, you are the best neighbors, when we moved into the neighborhood we did not know any neighbors, you came right over and welcomed us, followed by Dom with that great smile he had.
Dom had a great personality and was a good cook, we will miss “special” dinners, and just conversations with the two of you.
We feel lucky to have been friends with you and Dom.

Connie, I was so sorry to learn of this. I have so many wonderful memories of both of you at Harwood. When our little Harwood group reconnected here in Florida, the memories have been able to continue in other ways. Zack was a special man who was so loved by his students. Hearing from them (which I’m sure you will) will just confirm what we already knew about his influence on them and their lives. Our thoughts are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all in the loss of Dom. I remember when you first moved to Moretown, in the village- in the Big House up the road. Dom seemed like such an Omni-presence! For a bit I was quite scared of him, but soon learned it was his quiet, gentle way. He observed. I have many fond memories of both of you at Harwood. Greg and Jeff you were fortunate to have such a great dad and lucky to have him for so many years. Hugs to all.

Connie, I am so sad to hear this news. Reading about Zack made me realize how little I knew about him while at Harwood…as I focused on my work in the science department. He was a good man with multiple talents who had a profound effect on many students, and you have many years filled with memories to treasure. My thoughts are with you and your family.

My heart goes out to Mrs. Zack and her family. I was a student in Mr. Zack’s architectural drawing class at Harwood many years ago. I remember him as a wonderful teacher with a terrific sense of humor. He was such a positive role model to many students, and I will always be grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from one of the best. Mr. Zack, you will never be forgotten.

Sorry to hear of your families loss. My thoughts go out to all of you during this time. Dom and Connie were both always an everyday presence at Harwood during my time there. Their sense of humor was always appreciated and useful in making life as the principals daughter just a little bit easier. Every time I walk through my family room I am reminded of Dom and Connie. Dom’s “found metal” sculptures are placed lovingly in many corners of the room. Many years have passed since 1969 when a young, brash, full of herself physical education teacher was befriended by both Dom and Connie. The memories are many and I will always be grateful for your guidance and care. It is my hope that once the grief has passed that Connie, Jeff, Vicky, Anthony and Greg will be comforted by the memories and the happiness that Dom brought into our lives.

Dear Connie, Greg, and Jeff,
Our memories of you go back to 1969, when you were one of Jim’s and my first friends at Harwood Union High School.
Our many wonderful times together include dog-training school, barbecues, and Christmas dinners.
We loved Dom’s humor and wisdom as well as his cooking skills and artistic and industrial talents.
We remember one winter blizzard in Virginia when Connie and Dom were held prisoner at our house!
While he will be missed, his legacy will live on. With love, Arlene and Jim Bathgate
