Ellison, Helen Marie (Larsen), age 90, passed on to be with her Lord and
Savior on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
Helen was born August 2, 1928 in Kankakee, Illinois to J. Franklin and
Ella Larsen, both of whom preceded her in death. As a registered nurse,
she came to Florida to work and met Johnny S. Ellison while on the job
at Cape Canaveral Space Center. Johnny passed away in 1997.
Johnny and Helen were for founders of Christ Is The Answer (CITA)
Mission in Melbourne, Florida. They started their mission of helping the
homeless and addicted in their home in the 1960’s and grew it to the
current CITA Mission serving 50+ men per day and having served
hundreds of thousands of meals.
She was predeceased by two sons, Danny in 2013 and Jeff, just this
days earlier, and a sister, Janet Cross. She is survived by her children,
Debbie (Paul) Gordon of Concord, NC, Buddy of Ellenboro, NC, Joe of
Melbourne, FL and Karen Ellison of Florence, SC, daughter-in-law Lisa
Ellison. Survived by 14 grandchildren; John (Kim), Billy (Heather), Andy
(Karen), Jessie (Amanda), Kyle (Lauren), Amber, Kimberly, Woody,
Jessica, Keriann (Danny), Bradley, Eric, Dakota, and Elizabeth. Also
survived by 27 great grandchildren; Kayla, Johnny, Jarrett, Jessica,
Ellison, Elliot, Haylee, Andrew, Sam, Jack, Paul, Ben, Kaylee, John
Wayne, CJ, Lili, Sam, Brian, Joey, Aaron, Ella, Bella, Woody Jr, Jackson,
Joshua, Faith, and Liv. We are blessed to have had Mama/Grandma
Ellison/Miss Helen in our lives.
