Obituary of Robert Lee Weaver
Robert Lee Weaver of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2015 after fighting a six-year battle with cancer. Robert, or +óGé¼+ôBob+óGé¼-¥ to family and friends, spent his 84 years of life achieving true happiness and contentment.
Born at home in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late Lois Gentry and Lester Weaver, he grew up farming, hunting, and fishing with his four brothers. He was very proud to have been the only one to complete a high school education. Despite being a large and vibrant man, he was the baby of the family and used to enjoy helping his mother around the house. He would tell of making biscuits in the wood burning stove with his mother and raved about her chocolate pie that no one can quite replicate.
Bob was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and served for six years. He was always very patriotic and kept a flag flying outside of his home. He sported the Army insignia tattoo on one forearm and a topless hula girl on the other that he acquired from his time in Jacksonville during his service in the military. After leaving the service, Bob held a variety of jobs and lived in multiple states, including Pennsylvania for 25 years and Florida for 19 years. However, he always said his favorite place he lived was Birmingham, Alabama because the city was set up in a grid and it was so easy to navigate. No matter where he lived, his family joked, +óGé¼+ôYou can take the boy out of the country, but not the country out of the boy.+óGé¼-¥
One of Bob+óGé¼Gäós favorite hobbies was fixing things and he could do almost anything with his hands. He loved tools and his younger daughter joked that he could open a hardware store out of the garage. He was always available and willing to help friends and neighbors with projects, and enjoyed working around his own home. He read the newspaper everyday and was always informed about current events. Bob knew an incredible amount of trivia and liked to watch Jeopardy, as well as complete crossword puzzles. His wife claims their daughter learned her ABCs from Wheel of Fortune while watching it with him. Bob+óGé¼Gäós most recent favorite show was Mountain Men and would tell any and everyone about it. He also liked to read People magazine, watch Dancing with the Stars, and listening to Elvis and what he referred to as +óGé¼+ôreal country music (Grand Ole Opry style).+óGé¼-¥
Bob always had a funny joke or kind word for everyone he met and accumulated many friends throughout the years. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice R Weaver; two daughters, Lee Phillips and Kathi Weaver; one grandson, Evan Phillips; an elder brother and his wife, Morris and Mary Weaver; and many nieces and nephews.Ashes will be interned at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery +óGé¼GÇ£ West, 5817 Fort Campbell Blvd, Hopkinsville, KY 42240In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Brevard Ostomy Assoc, PO Box 120953, Melbourne, FL 32912 or Hospice of Health First, 200 S.
