Obituary of Bryce Mason Chief Master Sergeant USAF Fire Chief
Bryce Eugene Mason, aged 73, born in Minneapolis, MN; prior resident of Albersbach Germany in the Ramstein Air Force Base (AFB) area and most recently a resident of Inspired Living Memory Care in Palm Bay FL, passed away on Monday, February 4 2019 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL.
Bryce was born June 18, 1945 to the late Dine and Edyth (Cleveland) Mason and is predeceased by siblings Bruce Mason, Beverly Hitchcox, and Barbara Ebner.
Bryce was a man of many stories from his 22 years of active service in the United States Air Force in Fire Protection. He was a Vietnam Veteran and earned the rank of Chief Master Sergeant after only 18 years of service. Additionally, his dedication to his work earned him the rank of Fire Chief.
After retirement from Air Force active duty, the next chapter of his life was a distinguished Civil Service career in Fire Protection, culminating in a Civilian Fire Chief role at Rhein Main AFB where he retired in 2001 at Frankfurt, Germany. He spent time in Albuquerque New Mexico, as well as Frankfurt and Ramstein Germany with his late wife Tina where they enjoyed time with Tina’s daughters, their families, and many friends around the area.
Left mourning his passing are his son Richard (Pamela) Mason; grandchildren Piper and Dean Mason; step-daughters Lori (Egon) Westrich; Cindy (Hardy) Christmann; Cindy and Lori’s families and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bryce will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. Those attending should arrive at 11:15 a.m. to Assembly Area 2.
