Rest in Peace Mrs. Smith. You gave my son lessons in school and life…to strive to the end, always do your best and to be kind to all. You have always been his favorite teacher and it is with a heavy heart that I will have to tell him that you are now with the Lord.

What outstanding fortune it was when Anne came to work for Westside. She radiated love and kindness. Her students adored her, as did we teachers. Anne was the most positive person I have ever known. Whether helping her students in the media center or after she began her struggle with her illness, her positivity always shined. We will always remember Anne. We loved her. Blessings to Bonnie and all of Anne’s family.

Anne had such a zest for life. She lit up a room every time she entered and certainly has all the other angels jazzercising with her. She fought an amazing fight but now has found peace. She will truly be missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Many years ago (nearly 17), Anne once wrote this in the Bible she gave me: Numbers 7
“May the Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord make his face shine upon you; May the Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace.” This is the message (the words and blessings) I pray are shared among all of her beloved family and friends. Anne was a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord. She lived life with a happy, courageous, and faithful spirit. She not only had a great passion and talent for teaching, but an even more remarkable way of loving every one of her students. She shared “life” and all that she was with those she came in contact with. Among those favorite memories are her love for her family, outdoor adventures, kickball, biking, fur babies (Gabby, Belle, and Angel), Jazzercise, gardening, laughter, and volunteering her time. Her high spirits, natural gifts, and genuine love will remain her forever legacy! With great sadness and heavy hearts we say good bye—with great JOY and peace we say welcome to Heaven. May God wipe away the tears and fill our hearts with peace, and Anne’s legacy of love and laughter!

I met Anne only once and for that my heart is even heavier. In that one meeting, I saw the kind, intelligent, captivating and strong woman my friend Bonnie accepted into her life as her partner and best friend. Bonnie – please know that the memories you and Anne created will live on long after her passing. I will continue to pray but I know that she is at peace and watching over all the people’s lives she touched. – Laura Randall

Anne became one of “my kids” when I taught her at MCC in 1979-1981. I am sure she has gained her eternal wings, with the brighest blue eyes and a smile that always lit up a room and now lights up heaven. I often ran into her around town at Church and her spirit, courage, loving spirit and love of life. Were always still evident! Anne, I loved you then and I will always love you for sharing my love of children and education. Patricia Daly Dezman

Anne and her sister Mary were the first 2 friends I made after my family moved to Rockledge in 1968. We were next door neighbors for several years. Mary and I were the same age and Anne was 4 years younger. I will always remember the little 5 year old girl with twinkling blue eyes and a bright smile. We lost touch after St.Mary’s, going to different high schools. Fast forward 40 plus years where we reconnected on Facebook. Even after 4 decades, I recognized Anne immediately as she looked exactly as I had remembered. We texted and messaged during her illness and kept saying that we needed to get together. We finally did in March and had a wonderful visit. When we said goodbye, I hugged her a little tighter and a little longer because I knew it would be the last time. Annie Banannie, I will never forget you – your positive attitude, your warrior spirit, your kindness. To Bonnie, Mary, Chris, Bob, Jim, Mike and Leslie, you have my sincere condolences and prayers.

Anne was an incredibly kind and strong person. I had the privilege of getting to know her as she was helping each day at running club when I first started the club in 2010. The kids loved her! As the years went on and she continued to help, I admired her strength and courage as she was truly one of the strongest woman I had ever met. I am thankful for getting to know Anne. She will not be forgotten and she will forever be remembered for her strength, kindness, and courage!

Mrs Smith was my son Brendons teacher 1st and 3rd grade. She made a huge and lasting impression on he and I. Brendon loved messaging her every few months to say hi. She always took the time to see what he was up too. He graduated this year. She was a teacher who shared herself and it is clear her students knew that. Whether it was sharing stories of her beloved fur babies, or her vacations to see family. My son would like her wife and family to know how much she mattered to him. Prayers for peace and strength to her wife and family.

Ms. Smith was kind, caring, funny and was one of my favorite teachers I could ever ask for. Her story times were the best memory I would cherish. She will forever be the best teacher I ever had. Ms. Smith was the one teacher I loved to see everyday while I went to Westside, though she was my first teacher I ever had there, she was the only person that made me forget the things I didn’t like about school, and want to come back to. I remember when she first got her dog Gabbi, she brought her to school and my friends were excited and spent the entire end of the day with her in her class while I waited to be picked up. She will never be forgotten or lost, she will always be with me because she is one of the reasons why I want to go towards teaching, and taught me my imagination. I send prayers to her family and friends. She will be missed.
I will miss you Ms. Smith <3

I was new to Westside this year and met Anne when I moved into her room. She was cleaning out her things, and kept assuring me she was trying to get everything out for me as soon as she could. (I really didn’t care how long it took, and was more struck by her kindness.) Everyone I have talked to here at Westside has had nothing but kind things to say about Anne. I feel robbed because I never really got to know such a beautiful person. I pray that her family and wife find comfort in knowing that she was truly loved by everyone.
