Obituary of John Bret Blevins

John Bret Blevins Jr, age 64, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Viera Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. John was born on April 4, 1954, in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to the late Bret Blevins and Shirley Blevins Critcher. John and his wife, Janet, lived for 28 years in Seaford, Delaware, before moving to Melbourne in 2016. John graduated from Western Carolina University in 1976. He worked as a manufacturing engineer for 42 years, retiring in 2018. John loved smooth jazz, Indy car races, fishing, telling stories, and a good joke—but he loved his wife, Janet, most of all. He also enjoyed the Andy Griffith Show because it reminded him of his childhood in the North Carolina foothills. He was blessed to have two church families, one at Harvest Christian Church in Delaware and the other at Freedom Christian Center in Melbourne. John is survived by his wife Janet, sister Beth Blevins (Steve Hirsch), step-sisters Liz McGuffey (Mike) and Cindy McMurray (Bill), brothers-in-law John Sparks (Jan) and Jeff Sparks (Mona). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Celebration of Life service will take place at Freedom Christian Center, 7250 Lake Andrew Dr, Melbourne, FL on March 16, 2019 at 2 PM. John requested casual dress and sharing of stories and fun times spent together. An informal service will follow at a later date in Moravian Falls, NC.
