Obituary of Steven C. Hord
Steve was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Ralph and Jean Hord. The younger of two siblings, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends growing up in the Presbyterian Church.
At the age of 18, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served 4 years active duty and 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserve. In 1984, Steve began his career overseas, in England, with McDonnell Douglas where he fulfilled his love of travel. In 1990, he met and married the love of his life, Caroline and they later welcomed their two children, Shannon and Brandon. At the start of the new century, the Hord family embarked on their next adventure, moving back across the pond to Merritt Island, FL. It was here that Steve fulfilled his passion for the space program by continuing his career with Boeing, and later ULA, at the Kennedy Space Center and CCAFS. Above all, Steve loved his family and friends and looked forward to spending time traveling the world with Caroline and fulfilling his next important role in life as Grandpa.
Steve is survived by his wife Caroline Hord, daughter Shannon Reintgen (and husband Christian Reintgen), son Brandon Hord, grandson Landon Reintgen, his parents Ralph and Jean Hord, brother Doug Hord, niece Jennifer Mabie and many family members.
His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Calvary Chapel of Merritt Island, located at 3500 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, located at 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, Florida.
Steve took great pride in serving his country as a US Marine. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his honor to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
