We are so sorry to hear of your very sad news there are no words to express how you and your family are feeling just now.
We both had the privilege to know Steve and I especially can remember we were at a party where I don’t know when Steve joined in the singing of New York New York with such enthusiasm.
Please take care Caroline and let the tears flow when you feel like it.

My deepest sympathies and sorrows to the Hord family. We’ve lost an incredible man. During Steve’s USMC career, Steve and I served side by side through training in Millington TN, and through his active duty career in Yuma Az. We were room mates in the barracks, students in the same classes, and I was blessed to know him well. Steve was one of the most remarkable men that I have had the pleasure to know, and smart beyond description. Steve was meritoriously promoted to every rank that he achieved in the Marine Corps, much to the amazement of the rest of us. He was just that good. He served his country with pride and distinction, due in course to his superb upbringing by Ralph and Jean. I was fortunate to visit him several years ago, and cherish those memories. Steve will live on through his amazing wife Caroline, and his two beautiful and accomplished children, that remind me so much of him. I’m proud to be able to say that Steve was my best friend through thick and thin. Steve, your duty on this earth is complete. Your time well served. Job well done! Stand down Marine, we now have the watch.

Caroline and family,
The joy and laughter both you and Steve brought to the tennis family was a testament of your love for each other and family, and was always uplifting to be around. I hope God will provide you comfort during this time of mourning, and know that you are all in my prayers. I sure will miss Steve, he made the world a better place.
With the most heartfelt condolences to you,

Dear Caroline, Aunt Jean and Uncle Ralph,
There are not adequate words to express my sorrow and sympathy to you all. I am so grateful I had the chance to spend time with Steve in San Antonio last August. I never had the opportunity to meet Caroline, Shannon & Brandon but it was so apparent how much he loved you all.
My heart aches for you as you suffer this great loss and I pray that the loving arms of our Lord will wrap around and comfort you.
God Bless,
Susan
