There are many thoughts I have about Denny and what he meant to me. I will limit what I share to one, in particular.
As my older brother, Denny served as my model growing up. Actually he was more of my Hero. Although he was ten years older than me, I don’t think anyone influenced my life more than he did. He joined the Air Force, so I wanted to go to the Air Force Academy. I visited him in Florida when I was in high school and always knew that this is where I wanted to live. He always told funny jokes, so I tried to tell jokes.
He told me once that whenever I was given a task, I should always do “more than the minimum”. He said, “Get it done ahead of schedule or do it better than anyone else. If you can’t do either, then do it with a good attitude.” He taught these same principles to his family and, I expect, to many of his friends and Air Force subordinates. I, in turn, emphasized them to my children and I expect that they will pass them on to theirs.
Although we no longer have Denny here with us, his influence and memories that still live on in his family and friends mean that we will always have him in spirit.

It was an honor to spend time with Denny. He was always up for a good story and a good laugh. Whenever he was around you, you were made to feel like family. We had the great pleasure of having Denny and family to our house for Easter this year. A delightful visit and good memories.
He made an impact among the Vandenberg Village Little League as an umpire when those kids of my generation played ball.
He was a great man, husband to his lovely wife Connie, and a wonderful loving father to his kids and his stepkids. It is our pleasure to have seen his interaction with his Florida family over the past few years and to witness his love, respect and fondness for them.
He was especially sweet to his little pups and they were always thrilled to see him walk through the door. His man cave hosted many a golf-game on TV day, and sports of all kinds.
An honor to be part of his life.
God Bless you Denny.
We love you.

I not only had the pleasure of knowing this man most of my life but also to call him “Dad” and was with him from the beginning of his illness till the end. (longest & hardest 5 months I personally ever have gone through). He never treated us any different than his own biological children. He was a great husband to my mother for 30 years and friend to so many. He always was there to lend a helping hand when he could. It was not very often that you would not see Al and Denny out and about on the weekends together one or the other riding shotgun and enjoying their time spent together. This is so hard but our faith in God will help it get better. I can hear him right now telling me “Cheryl your going to have to learn how to toughen up” Iam trying my best to do just that. We promised you we would take care of mom and we are doing that. You are gone too soon but with your heart condition God wanted bigger and better things for you and we know that is what is happening. You must be in awwwww with what you are now seeing of God’s promises for us after we leave here to join him. We look forward to the day we can all be reunited again. May you rest in peace and know We Love you and thank you with all our being for many years of laughter and great times. Hugs and Smooch, Smooch!!!
