Obituary of Eileen Donahue Morfin
Eileen passed away peacefully at the William Child’s Hospice Home in Malabar, Florida on June 9, 2018 at the age of 93.
Born November 28, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, Eileen spent her childhood in East Meadow, Long Island. After graduating high school, she attended Hofstra University. In 1945 she married the love of her life, Henry Morfin. Together they began raising their four children in West Islip, New York. The family moved to Titusville, Florida in 1966 when her husband’s work at Grumman led him to work on Project Apollo and the “Race to the Moon.” Eileen often said the “space years” were some of the most exciting times of her life. The family returned to Long Island in 1973 where they settled in Port Jefferson. After the death of her husband in 1983 Eileen moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida where she resided until her passing.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband Henry Morfin; parents James and Alice Donahue; stepmother Bernice Sakaris; brothers James and Thomas Donahue; sisters Judith Donahue, Audrey Murphy, and Gwendolyn Monahan.
She is survived by children Kathleen Geraci, Gale Morfin and husband Tuomas Kostianinen, Linda Morfin and Hank Morfin; grandsons Nicholas Geraci and wife Kristen, Connor and Cody Morfin-Hickok; sister Christine Fattizzi; brothers Robert and Jack Donahue as well as many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am, August 11, 2018 at the St. Lukes Catholic Church; 5055 Micco Rd, Barefoot Bay, FL 32976
