Obituary of Grant Wenger Bamberger
Grant Wenger Bamberger Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully, at his home in Titusville, Florida on November 17, 2017, just days before his 81st birthday.
Grant was born in 1936, the eldest of four brothers, to Dr. Grant Wenger Bamberger and Jo Marie Rider at Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Grant spent his childhood in Honey Brook, PA and upon high school graduation attended Penn State University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961. He married Joan Carol Billich, his college sweetheart, in 1960. After college graduation, the couple moved to Vermont where Grant began working for General Electric. Grant and his wife lived in Essex Junction, VT for 46 years where they raised 4 children; Bob (Briget), Julie Knox (Doug), Gary (Noreen Cargill) and Ann Reidy (Rick).
Grant always had a smile on his face and was liked by everyone who met him. Among the things he loved best were his family, working with his hands, traveling in his motor home and skiing.
In the 1970s, not being much more than a novice skier himself, Grant became president of Brownell Mountain ski area in Williston, VT. He remained president until it’s closing in the late 1970’s. Grant’s love for skiing continued all his life and he spent 14 years of his retirement skiing the slopes of Breckenridge, CO.
Grant forever had a project going. In the 1970s, he designed and built a two-story addition onto his house with the occasional help of friends and family members. When he wasn’t working on his house he was working on his cars. Grant enjoyed doing all his own car repair work and twice for fun, he cut two damaged cars in half and welded the two good ends together to form new usable cars.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents and his great grandson Hunter Knox.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, four children and theirs spouses; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Veronica, Geoffrey Knox, Nathan Bamberger, Julia, Olivia and Grant Reidy; one great grandchild, Billy Knox; three brothers, David, Tomas and James, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
