Brie and the family,
Sending you love and prayers, we’re so sorry to hear of your dad’s death. I know he had many medical struggles so it’s comforting to know he is now at peace. So glad that you, Mike, Gage and Sy were able to be close by in FL these past few years, although we miss you here at Deep Creek. Pass on our sentiments to your mom and siblings.

Becky and family, I am so saddened for all of you. What a life Charlie had. A lovely wife, children, grandchildren and many, many friends. I think of the two of you when I drive up Victoria Hill and miss you living there. I always valued his friendship and enjoyed our talks about the ‘old gas company days’. May you all find peace and comfort in the many memories you have made together.

So sorry for your loss Charlie was a great person he will be missed . One of my fondest memories at Hope gas was when he was my boss he told me to put water in a new pair of boots I was breaking in at gas company because they were rubbing my feet .i thought sure he was trying to pull something on me but he finally convinced me to do it . So I filled them up with water and worked in them that day. AND it worked . God Bless you Charlie and your family .

Ms Becky and family. You probably do not remember me but I was probably the one who enlisted Charley in the WV National Guard. I was the unit administrator at the time and saw that he got paid and promoted in a timely manner. I became a warrant officer in the S4 section of Headquarters Company, 1092d, and Charley came to me from the S2 section to be my S4 sergeant which allowed him to be a Sergeant First Class E7. From there he was made the First Sergeant of HHC. He probably refered to me as “Gene A.” Smith. That was Charley. I will never forget him and wondered often what had happened to him. Now I know. You will always be in my prayers.
