Obituary of Luis   Amaro Agrela Nunes

Luis Amaro Agrela Nunes of Melbourne peacefully passed away on May 11th, surrounded by his loving family, after bravely facing a long illness. He was born in 1939 on the picturesque Madeira Island, Portugal.

In his journey through life, Luis was preceded in death by his parents, Luis Gouveia Nunes and Georgina Agrela Nunes, along with his siblings Virgilio, Vicencia, and Egidio.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Suzana Da Costa Santos Nunes. Luis will be deeply missed by his daughter Susana Maria Nunes Gildea and her husband Sean Gildea, his son Luis Nuno Santos Nunes and his wife Conceicao De Sousa Santos Nunes, as well as his grandson Christoper Nunes Gildea and his wife Tara Gildea. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Luis is also survived by his dear siblings: Ida Teixeira, Manuela Barros, Armando Nunes, Fernao Nunes, and Sibilia Camacho.

In 1981, Luis embarked on a new chapter in America, residing in Providence, Rhode Island, Miami, and eventually settling in Melbourne, Florida. Throughout his professional journey, Luis dedicated 20 years to the Governo Regional da Madeira and served as an Electronic Engineer for both Motorola and Raltron, contributing a decade of his expertise to each, including three years in Shanghai, China.

Beyond his professional achievements, Luis was a passionate soccer enthusiast, having played for 12 years with Clube Desportivo Nacional in Madeira. His love for the sport extended into coaching and refereeing, where he made a significant impact on various clubs in Madeira, the LASA league in Massachusetts, and high schools in the Miami area. He officiated numerous games for LASA and many high school matches in Brevard County.

A private memorial service will be held by the immediate family to honor Luis's remarkable life and enduring legacy. His presence will forever be felt in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
