Obituary of Lavaughn Wayne Swails Jr.
LaVaughn "Wayne" Swails, a firefighter known for his kindness and sense of humor, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2024. Born on February 18, 1961, Wayne served his community with dedication and bravery.
Wayne had a quick wit that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a man of boundless humor, often leaving friends and colleagues in stitches with his pranks and shenanigans. Wayne also found peace and joy in fishing, and was hoping to get back on the water soon.
Beyond his service as a firefighter, Wayne was a devoted husband to his wife, Elise whom he loved dearly. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Tanya Coffey, stepsons Nicholas and Matthew Woodard, his sister Lori Spicer, as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, along with countless loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother L.W Swails Sr. and Joyce Nettles Swails.
Wayne's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him. Yet, his memory will be cherished, his humor remembered, and his legacy of courage and love celebrated by all who knew him.
