Obituary of Barbara Jean Pietron

Barbara Jean Pietron of Melbourne, Florida passed away on May 8, 2024, at William Child's Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida.

Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1936 to John and Marie Erckman. She helped raise her two younger brothers, Philip and Gordon after her Mom passed away unexpectedly when Barb was just 14 years old.

She married the love of her life the late Melvin "Mike" Pietron in 1959 and they established their home in Novi, Michigan.

She was a wonderful, loving mother to her three children Marie, Daniel and Laura. She was devastated by the early passing of her daughter Marie in 2003 at the young age of 42.

She loved her grandchildren Jamie, Kenneth, Emmanuelle and Evan. Her bond with Kenneth was extremely special as they lived together and he helped care for her and did an amazing job.

Although she spent most her life in Michigan she moved to Florida in 2011 so she could enjoy time with family and the warmer weather.

Barb was an incredibly strong woman who had the ability to make friends wherever she went. People were drawn to her bubbly, loving personality and instantly fell in love with her. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, her daughter Marie and brother Phil.

She is survived by her son Daniel Pietron (Gina) of Farmington Hills, Michigan, daughter  Laura Cage (Norm) of Melbourne, Florida; grandchildren, Jamie, Kenneth, Emmanuelle and Evan; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Olivia; a brother, Gordon Erckman (Liz) of Palm Bay, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the favorite "Auntie" to many whom she loved dearly.

The family would light to give a heartfelt thank you to her amazing care team with Healtfirst Hospice: Dr. Ruiz, April, Kristie and Jean and the wonderful staff at the William Child's Hospice House.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care-Palm Bay Chapel.
