Obituary of Jacob Brintle

Jacob SPENCER Brintle, known better as Spencer to those who knew and loved him, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2024 in Melbourne, FL, with his family at his side.

Spencer was born on June 25, 1964, at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, FL. He grew up in Cocoa and attended and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1982. After graduation, Spencer joined the Navy and bravely served a 4-year term, much of it on the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier as an F 14 Plane Captain, while completing 2 6-month long tours of the Mediterranean. While serving his country, Spencer earned many awards which include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Plane Captain Award twice, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award. Upon an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Spencer worked as a Logistics Operator for Johnson Controls. In his free time, Spencer enjoyed working on trucks, swimming, and fishing. He cherished the companionship of his life-long best friend, Tom Hardy, whom he worked on these trucks with.

He will be deeply missed by his surviving sisters, Gerri (Tracy) White, Vonnie (Michael) Haught, and Anita Whitney; a brother Pat (Billie Jo) Whitney; as well as aunts, uncles, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and the best neighbors ever-Terry and Lyn.

Spencer was preceded in death by his father, Don Brintle, and mother, Wendy Whitney.

A private service honoring Spencer’s life will be held on May 14, 2024, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL, where he will be laid to rest alongside other Veterans who bravely and selflessly served their country.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2024.
