Obituary of Edward Linford Sanderson
Edward Linford “Sandy” Sanderson’s last flight took off on April 7, 2024. He passed peacefully at home with friends and family nearby.
He was a father, a friend, a veteran, and mostly an aviator. He loved working for the airlines (especially ATA), gardening, big band jazz and his cats. Sandy liked people and was a good conversationalist, strong-willed but would make a joke even when his mind and body were failing him at 94 years of age. He accomplished many things in his lifetime. As a high school student, he made ‘All State Band’. Soon thereafter he played drums for a local big band, ‘The Continentals’. He learned to fly before he could even drive a car. His journey through life took him all over the world, but his favorite place on earth was North Eleuthera, Bahamas. He was a beach bum through and through.
He is survived by his daughter, Terry, her husband, Roger, his nephew, Bruce [Sue] Sanderson, his niece Nancy [Jef] Shaw, and their families. If you would like to contribute a memorial, please send donations to your local hospice provider, the American Brain Foundation, or our local pet rescue, HALO, Sebastian, FL.
