Obituary of Norman E. LeMoine

Norman Edmund LeMoine crossed the bar on March 14, 2024 into great peace and comfort after battling numerous complications following cancer surgery.  

Norm was born in Worcester, MA to Edmund Hector LeMoine and Claudine Ruth (Gamblin).

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Paul Andrew, Peter, Edmund James, and Raymond Neal.   He is survived by his wife Roberta L. Mead of 40 yrs.; daughter Kristyn M Bray (Daniel): brother Richard Clyde LeMoine (Jo-Ann); brother-in-law Ron Mead (Carla Hughes); daughters-in law Beverly LeMoine and Lea Ann LeMoine; Grandchildren Dylan E LeMoine, Troy J LeMoine, Tarah N. LeMoine and grand daughters of the heart Whitney and Hannah Jackim;

Norm began his military career in the Navy (1960), serving as a sonarman, stationed in the Caribbean. He transferred to the Coast Guard as a sonarman, transitioning to a marine science technician, and finally becoming a bosun. He rose in the ranks and had command of two coast guard vessels, enjoying that time very much. He was stationed across the Continental United State and Hawaii as well as a tour in Viet Nam.  He retired from his 22-year Coast Guard career in 1982 from his position in New Orleans as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He always told people “It was the best job I ever Had.”

Norm was always interested in all things water related, be it boating, sailing, fishing, or cruising. His involvement with Manatee Marina and Yacht club kept him busy.  You might find him grilling burgers, sail racing, rafting up. Norm learned to sail crewing at the Saturday races, eventually earning a place on the Gaskins cup. You could find him extolling the virtues of the marina and all it had to offer everyone. Norm was a member of Space Coast Parrotheads where he enjoyed giving a helping hand with volunteer projects.  He was a member of the following groups: Coast Guard Combat Vets, Bibb Shipmates Assn, Lightship Sailors of America, Chief Warrant Officers Assn, and a Master Maon with Joel H Prouty lodge in MA.

The burial will be private, and at a later date at sea.
