Obituary of Colonel Donald Paul
Colonel Donald Paul passed away March 9, 2024 at the age of 105 in Palm Bay, FL.
He was born in Castleton on Hudson NY. He was preceded in death by his 4 siblings- Edna, Ruth, Thurston, and Jay. He was married to Torney in 1941 until her passing in 1982. They had 2 daughters, Edna and Nancy. Donald was married to Joan in 1983 until her passing in 2018. He had several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Colonel Paul enlisted in the Army in 1940 and retired in 1970. He attended OCS at Ft. Benning, Ga. in 1942 where he received his
commission as an officer. He served with the 95th Infantry Division which defended the Moselle River bridgehead at Thionville and capture of Metz during WWll.
Colonel Paul also served with the Office of Chief Counsel for War Crimes, Nuremberg. He served with the 3rd Infantry Division during the Korean War.
During his 30 year career in the Army he was station at several posts including in Georgia, Germany, Florida, Texas, California, Alaska, Greece, New York, and finally retiring from the First Army in Maryland.
Colonel Paul’s awards and decorations include Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with valor and 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and Army Commendation Ribbon with Oak Leaf Cluster among other medals.
The family request that everyone who knew him to remember him in their prayers and honor him in their own way. There will be no service per his instructions.
