Obituary of Jane F. Borecky
Jane Frances Fratesi Borecky passed away on Thursday, March 14 at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Center in Rockledge, FL. She was 95 years old. She was born on August 5, 1928, in Pine Bluff, AR, the oldest child of the late Warren Fratesi and Angeline Rocconi Fratesi. She lived most of her life in Pine Bluff before settling in Florida 8 years ago.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Jerry William Borecky and granddaughter Kimberly Smith.
Jane graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1946. After graduation she worked for JC Penny for several years while studying art, decorating and design. She became an accomplished artist and was known for her beautiful still life paintings and landscapes. She was a member of the local art league. Some of her work was exhibited and sold at local galleries. She taught art classes for children and adults as well as volunteering her talent to assist with fundraising for charity. She continued to paint, design and teach until recently.
She was an active member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pine Bluff where she devoted countless hours to various committees and special events . Most notably, she was responsible for decorating the church for holidays, special functions and weddings. She also was a wedding planner for the church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Jane spent countless hours volunteering for charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross. She also volunteered at the local hospital. She was a member of the local garden club and the Arkansas Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She won many awards for volunteerism and community service.
Jane is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Smith and Rebecca (Tom) Haycock; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Seth) Williams, Matthew (Ashley) Brown and Christopher (Snehali) Brown; four great-grandchildren, Nathan and Alexander Williams; Oliver and Benjamin Brown. Jane is also survived by one brother, Robert Fratesi and two sisters, Patricia Russo and Elaine Dial.
The family would like to thank VITAS Healthcare Hospice where Jane spent her final days.
A memorial service for Jane will be held in the near future. Date to be announced.
Instead of flowers the family suggests that donations in Janes memory be made to American Cancer Society or VITAS Healthcare of Florida.
