Obituary of George Vernon Rouse
George Vernon Rouse, 78, of Indialantic, Florida, passed away on March 10th, 2024 in Rockledge, Florida.
George was born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Detor and Bernice Rouse on November 25th, 1945. In 1957, his family moved to Florida and he went to high school at Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach and graduated in 1963. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) and a master’s degree in operations research from Florida Institute of Technology. He worked in the semiconductor manufacturing industry for Radiation Inc., Harris Corporation, and Intersil for 37 years. He enjoyed watching college football games and other sporting events, being on the water, reading, learning about history, and spending time with family and friends. He received over two dozen different patents for his semiconductor work and was involved in the local Jaycees unit, was very active at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Indialantic as a board member/multiple committees’ chairman/usher, and was the president of the Space Coast chapter of the GA Tech Alumni Club for many years.
George is survived by his wife Gail Rouse of Indialantic, daughter Margaret Frost and her husband Mathew of Apollo Beach, Florida, and stepdaughter Jill Osterling and her son Nicholas of Indialantic. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jennifer Rouse, and sister Nannette Pratt.
Funeral service will be held graveside at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay, Florida on March 18th, 2024 at 4 pm with Pastor Richard Jones of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the same location. Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care will be handling the funeral arrangements.
