Obituary of Robert Jozef Bacorn

Robert Jozef Bacorn, 52, passed away on February 14, 2024 after a short-lived battle with coronary artery disease. His final months were spent at home with his family while he awaited surgery for his condition after a tumultuous weeklong stay in the hospital in November of 2023 following a severe heart attack.

Robert was born in Rockledge, Florida on November 2, 1971 to Jacqueline and Donald Bacorn, who preceded him in death. He spent his whole life in Brevard, having attended Cocoa High School.

As a teenager, Robert found his passion for cars and pursued jobs as a mechanic starting from age 14 until his passing. At the time of his passing, Robert was employed at the Cocoa branch of Maaco on Clearlake Road where he’d also worked for many years in the 2000s on their commission staff. From fixing mechanical problems under the hood to taping and painting the cars’ exterior, Robert could do it all. Aside from simply working on cars, Robert had his own fleet over the years that he would work on painting and modifying for hobby; his prized possessions included his 1963 Chevy II Nova, his GMC S15 Jimmy, and his 2000 Cadillac “Dadillac” Escalade. Robert was an aficionado for 60s and 70s-era muscle cars more than anything else.

Robert was also incredibly passionate about music. In every car he modified, he was always sure to add an elaborate stereo system to listen to his favorite songs; his favorite speakers were his 12” subwoofers, as he loved bass especially. His favorite genres by far were rock and metal, and one could hardly catch him listening to any radio station outside of 101.1 WJRR. His favorite bands included Def Lepperd, Mudvayne, Staind, Seether, and others.

Above all else, however, Robert loved his two daughters and third honorary daughter in the form of the family dog, Midnight. Robert raised his two girls, Sarah and Savannah, as a single parent effectively from the day they each were born in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Robert’s two daughters were always his top priority and main concern, and every day, even when physically whittled down by heart disease, he fought for them to be safe and comfortable. Every cent Robert made went to his children, even when it meant having to sell his prized S15 to keep the family afloat. Midnight, meanwhile, was adopted in 2016 as a newborn puppy after the family’s previous dog, Henry’s, untimely passing; Robert always loved dogs and few moments of his life were spent without a furry companion at his side. Robert’s bed was always Midnight’s favorite to steal, and she always made sure he had a loving cuddle buddy to nap with.

Robert is survived by his two beloved daughters, Sarah and Savannah Bacorn, and the beloved family fur baby, Midnight.
