Obituary of Robert "Bob" Fred Lindsey

Robert “Bob” Fred Lindsey, 74 of Viera, FL passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024.

Bob never met a stranger. He possessed an extraordinary sense of humor combined with an uncanny ability to deliver a story. He enthusiastically engaged a wide range of people from Wall Street bankers on the East Side of Manhattan to gun runners in the hills of Kentucky. Having exercised the toughness and discipline required to play football and a brief career in Law Enforcement he was nonetheless a genuine free spirit in his welcoming and nonjudgmental approach to people. Being an acknowledged Deadhead was consistent with his sense of tolerance and kindness. Bob was a bona fide Southern Gentleman.

Aside from his remarkable people skills Bob held diverse and varied employment throughout his career demanding an agile intellect and advanced organizational abilities. He worked in warehouse management, sales, construction supervision including different arenas and different players.

An avid reader, Bob was a student of the history and development of military hardware, specifically Aviation. Residing most recently in Florida near the space coast provided a rewarding vantage point to follow the US Space Program. It should not go without mentioning his considerable enjoyment and skill in woodworking. Bob traveled extensively across the US for work and pleasure with his wife Chris. They also traveled internationally to Greece, Mexico, Cuba and Spain where they drank wine in caves in the hills of Grenada and Flamenco danced on tabletops with Gypsies. They travelled together through Central and South America including riding on the zipline above the jungle. Bob never shied away from any restaurant, his favorites including Hot dogs and Pizza and never forget his all-time favorite Makers Mark.

Bob was born in Greensboro, NC, he graduated from Northeast Guilford High school, McLeansville, North Carolina in 1968.

He is survived by his wife Christine, daughter Tiffany Collins, her partner Paul Beswick, and grandson Neil, sister Kathy (Lindsey) Gentry, her husband Lanny and Niece Jennifer Gentry Gill, and her husband Greg Gill, sister-in-law Kay Lindsey and Nephew Bryan Lindsey and his wife Dianna as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was predeceased by his Mother Wilma Butler Lindsey, Father John Fred Lindsey, son Robert Jon Lindsey and brother Larry Lindsey.

Bob was not an idle, passive spectator in the game of life. High energy, passion and gusto combined with honor and respect characterize a life well lived. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date in order to allow time to gather the family and friends Bob gathered on his “long strange trip”.
