John Leslie Head Jr
February 14, 1936 – February 23, 2024
John Leslie Head Jr passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2024, in Indialantic FL, at the age of 88. He was born in Portland Maine, the only child of Rosemary Profenno Head and John Leslie Head Sr. He is survived by his loving partner of 40 years Lynn DiPrima, children Teri-Lynne Head Johansson (Kjell), Tracy Ann Head, Robert John Head (Georgette), and John Leslie Head III, his grandchildren Amanda Boys (Matthew), Christopher Johansson, David Johansson, and Julia Head Herrick (Dakota), and dozens of cousins.
John grew up in North Carolina and ended up in Florida in his teens where he spent the rest of his life. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville FL. He spent 2 years in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper which he shared stories with pride.
John married Nancy Grothe Head of Cocoa Beach, had 4 children, and raised his family in Indialantic. He started his own construction company J. L. Head Construction Inc in the mid-60s and built many homes in many neighborhoods throughout Brevard County. He was well-known as a stellar Builder who was passionate for the industry, focused on high quality, and ran his business word-of-mouth never needing to advertise. He also took pride in mentoring young Builders in the community.
John met Lynn DiPrima in the 80s. Lynn was truly his soulmate and best friend, and they spent 40 wonderful years together. They took many road trips to places as Atlanta, Dallas, and Beaver Creek in their customized Suburban and loved to explore the latest trends in building and interior design, and to dine and shop.
John was the Patriarch of our family who kept us all on our toes and had more energy than people half his age. He will be remembered for having the latest and greatest of toys, his love of fast cars and boats, motorcycle racing with his sons, winning big in Las Vegas, his nightstand and freezer filled with goodies to accommodate his sweet tooth, attending numerous college graduations for his daughter, dune buggy rides on the beach with the neighbor kids, calling his kids every day multiple times even if they lived out of the country, his pride in his grandchildren, and his zest for life and fun.
John was preceded in death by his mother Rosemary, his father John Sr, and his ex-wife Nancy.
