Obituary of Harry Vernon Christner
Harry Vernon Christner, 91, of Cocoa, FL, a long-time resident of Merritt Island, FL passed away on Dec. 31, 2023.
He is fondly remembered for his inspirational words - "Just Keep Moving" which he credits to his longevity and his response to how are you doing- "Couldn't Be Better”.
Harry was born in Jackson, Mich. on March 31, 1932 he was the youngest of 12 children. He served as a canoneer sargeant in the Korean War for the U.S. Army earning his wings, 2 Bronze Stars, and was awarded the United Nations Service Medal.
He relocated to FL in the late 1960's, where he enjoyed many years of comfort in the sunshine. He loved to fish, shrimp and collect various treasures. He was known as a Home Builder, entepreneur and inventor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, 3 children Sheryl A. Christner, Teresa L. Christner and Harry V. Christner Jr., former wife Lurla J. Sanders and grandaughter Amber E. Hope.
Harry is survived by his daughter Nancy K. Taylor(Roy L. Taylor) of Tenn., 4 grandchildren Misty, Billy, Daylin, Lee and 6 great-grandchildren Tyler, Kaylianne, Darren and Olivia, Westin and Lily, his wife Jan O. Christner and step-sons; John(Rebecca) Repp of Tenn. and James Repp(Joyce) of FL.
Services to be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11:30am
at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with a reception to follow at Fox Lake Park (Quail Pavilion) in Titusville, FL.
