Obituary of Sharkie George Montague
Sharkie George Montague of Palm Bay, Florida, born on March 18, 1936, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2023, after a long battle with kidney disease. He was one of eight children
born to Melrose and Zephaniah Montague.
Sharkie was born in Tower Hill District, Saint James, Jamaica. He spent 35 years as a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, before retiring with the rank of Inspector. He immigrated to the United States and worked as a security officer at Morgan Stanley in the World Trade Center, New York, before relocating to Palm Bay, Florida. He had a life-long love of all sports and would talk at length about playing cricket for the police force. He was also an avid gardener and an amazing cook; he grew just about every vegetable in his garden and took delight in sharing his crops with friends and family. He also enjoyed working in the Garden Center at Walmart before finally retiring in 2013.
Sharkie George loved serving the Lord. He was a member of the Palm Bay Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1998, where he served as a member of the Deacon Board. He took great delight in singing and listening to music. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would regale his children and grandchildren with stories of growing up in Jamaica. Sharkie George’s love of taking pictures was evident when he would show up to events with both his camcorder and a camera.
Sharkie George was a loving father to his children. His memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife and domino partner of 63 years, Ivylin Fay Montague; children: Carl Anthony Montique, Allan (Colleen) Montague, Chester Montague, Kevin Montague, Audrey (Colin) Fletcher, Sheryl (Andre) Palmer, Nicola Montague; his brother Charles Montague; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
We love you Daddy, SG, Uncle Ben, Uncle Monty, Grandpa Yuck, Pops, Missa Monty. We will be “fair to fine” and will always carry your memory in our hearts.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, at Palm Bay Seventh Day Adventist Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay, Florida
