Obituary of Everett Gordon Lampkin

Everett G. Lampkin – Christian, New York State Trooper, small business owner, husband, father of five, beloved by many, passed away at the age of 85 on Wednesday November 22, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Eldean Lampkin,  three daughters Rene Spiers, Ann Yarbrough and Catherine Lampkin and brother William Lampkin.

Evie, as he was called by all, was born on June 23, 1938 in Amsterdam, New York to Melvin Lampkin and Marie Lampkin. He was raised in the Town of Florida. Being raised on a farm, Evie was a great lover of animals. He attended Amsterdam High School and graduated in 1955. After high school he entered the United States Air Force for four years where he got the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world. He served in the military for four years. When he came home from the military he married Eldean Bouton in 1961. He then became a New York State Trooper. He served as a State Trooper from 1962 until he retired in 1978 due to an injury. He was also a small business owner. He and his wife worked Tribes Hill Maintenance for 19 years.

Evie and his wife Eldean, lovingly called Ellie by all, were married for 63 years. They had five children: Sandra, Michael, Rene, Ann and Catherine. He was a dedicated family man. All family was always welcomed at his home. The Christmas parties, Thanksgiving parties, and family reunions were looked forward to with anticipation by all members of the extended family. He was a lover of traveling and instilled that love in his children. He made sure the family traveled together as often as possible.

Evie will be remembered for his epic stories, his booming voice and boisterous laughter, how readily he invited his children’s friends into his home, his generosity, his work ethic, his love for travel, his love for animals, and for being an amazing provider and protector of his family.

The family would like to thank Jennifer Kermish, loving family member who took such wonderful care of him. We would also like to thank Hospice, who made it possible for him to pass in peace in the comfort of his own home. He was surrounded by those he loved.
