Obituary of Carmen "Butchie" Mazzone
Carmen “Butchie” Mazzone, a long-time resident of Medford, Massachusetts, rested his eyes for the final time on Thursday, December 7th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones following a brief illness.
Born at Winthrop Hospital on January 2nd, 1944 to Michelina and Fredrick Mazzone, Carmen was the brother of Chester Mazzone and Jerad Mazzone.
Growing up in his father’s butcher shop, Carmen, alongside his beloved brothers, learned the skills of the trade and spent his early years as a meat cutter throughout Boston. One of the most primitive skills he learned in his time with his father was entrepreneurship and it was this drive that led him to open South Medford Video Store in 1985. In the age of VHS, this business was successful in providing for his children Jacqueline of Melbourne, Michael of Rockledge, Matthew of Micco, Jessica of Rockledge, and Rachael Mazzone of Melbourne.
In 2001, Carmen and his family moved to Brevard County, Florida, marking his early retirement and his most intimate years with his family, especially grandchildren Nicholas Victoria, Kevin Reynolds, Melissa Arsenault, Haleema Al-Qudah, Amari Al-Qudah, Mia Mazzone, Brody Nails, Maddie Nails, Matthew Daughtry, Stallard Mazzone, and Makai Daughtry. Carmen is also survived by many great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Crematory arrangements were provided by Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care. A private celebration of life will be held by family on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
