Obituary of Jorge Molina
It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of our family’s patriarch, Jorge Molina. He passed on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Jorge was born on December 28th, 1943, in Mexico City, Mexico. He was one of five children raised by his loving aunt and uncle in Acapulco, Mexico. He married his wife of fifty-six years, Elva Molina, on December 5th, 1966.
Jorge and Elva immigrated to the United States in 1967 so he could play Jai alai professionally in Daytona, Florida. He went on to become one of the sport’s top players, his career spanning two decades. After retiring from Jai alai, Jorge went on to have a seventeen-year career at Publix, which he retired from in 2005.
Jorge’s vigor for life emanated in everything he did. His ability to spread kindness and empathy not only to his loved ones but to strangers, made those around him strive to be the best versions of themselves. His legacy is one that will live on as a reminder to always lead with love, even in the darkest of times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his wife Elva. Jorge is survived by his two daughters, Adriana Gallagher and Leticia Molina-Zizzo, his son-laws Dale Gallagher and Anthony Zizzo, and his granddaughters Vanessa Bell, Chantel Gallagher, and Molina Izabella Zizzo.
Jorge’s Mass Service will be held at Ascension Catholic Church on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at 1:00 PM.
