Obituary of James Earl Garris
James Earl Garris, Jr., 56, passed away to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Melbourne, FL. James was born on April 07, 1967 in Rocky Mount, N.C. He was the son of James “Earl” Garris and Patricia Garris (Wester). James’ buddy, Mackenzie was born in October 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and many aunts and uncles. James is survived by his wife Caitlin Garris (Barta); daughter, Mackenzie Garris, and sister Renee (Tim) Coppedge.
James was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and uncle to a host of nephews and one niece. James was also a friend above all else.
James stayed in North Carolina, and then relocated to Houston, Texas in 2001 with his family to pursue his love of music. Ultimately relocating to the Melbourne, Florida area in 2005. James and Caitlin began their relationship in 2013 and got married in October of 2021.
James spent his life working mainly in the marketing and graphic design industry, and most recently owned his own business doing just that for the second time during his career.
James’ biggest passion in life was music, James began playing the guitar at a very young age and was a musician for his entire life. Despite the many health problems, he faced later in his life, he continued to enjoy playing the guitar and singing. James played with multiple bands throughout his life and enjoyed passing time by playing music with his friends (Wade, Katie, and Steve) when he could no longer perform. James also enjoyed woodworking as a hobby later in his life.
James was a kind, genuine and loving individual, making friends wherever he went. He would drop everything to help anyone who needed it. Many people, especially his family and friends, will miss James.
Two services will be held for James. One in North Carolina and One in Florida.
The first being December 2nd in Nashville, N.C. at Lighthouse Baptist at 2PM. Visitation and Fellowship Following.
