Obituary of Gary Allen "Huggie" Price

Gary Allen Price (aka "Huggie" to his family), 81, of Melbourne, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

Gary was born in Danville, VA, to Elbert and Hazel Price on September 27, 1942.

A Vietnam veteran, Gary served as a Seargent in the USMC from 1963-1967 and also served two years in the Reserves. He moved to Florida in 1968 and worked for Harris/GE as an electrician for 47 years. He also worked with air conditioning as a side job. Gary was a Christian. He served as a deacon and worked in bus ministry at Bethany Baptist Church for 20 years. 

His hobbies were collecting tools, woodworking, watching football, and racing. He was a loving Dad and family man. 

Gary is survived by his wife, Betty Price, residing in Danville, VA, daughter Shannon Price, of Melbourne, FL, daughter Angie Vipperman (Ken) of Danville, VA, granddaughter, Katie Vipperman of Danville, VA, brother Kenneth Price of Ludlow MA, sister Elaine Pack of Melbourne, FL, and brother-in-law Eddy Markowski of Palm Bay, FL, and several other family members. He also leaves behind his beloved pets Chloe and Sadie. 

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Ronnie Price, sister Evelyn Markowski, and brother-in-law Ronnie Pack.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Beacon Baptist Church, 3185 Aurora Road, Melbourne, Florida, with Pastor Buddy Marrow officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Internment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens, with a reception to follow at the church.
