Obituary of George "Tom" Morrell
George (Tom) Morrell, 86, passed away at home in Palm Bay, FL. Tom was born in Springfield, New Brunswick to parents George and Julia (Brown) Morrel of Sussex. He graduated from Sussex H.S. in 1954. After moving to the U.S. in 1960, he joined the U.S. Air Force. Tom was stationed at a radar site in Saratoga, N.Y. for three years.
During that, he married Marion Rider, daughter of the late John and Helen Rider of Plainfield, VT.
Following discharge from the Air Force, Tom and Marion moved to Middletown, CT. Where Tom started working for the telephone company.
In 1970, they moved to East Hampton, CT., where they raised their family. Tom retired from the phone company after 25 years, and he and Marion built a home in Palm Bay, FL where they spent 28 wonderful years, making memories with their grandchildren.
Tom leaves behind his wife Marion of 60 years, his son, Chris Morrell, and wife Jennie of Lebanon, CT., his daughter Alice Morrell of So. Windsor, CT., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by their daughter, Theresa (Morrell) Plotkin in 2020, his parents, George and Julia, sisters Blanche Anderson and George Mc Kenzie, brothers, Walter and Ronald Morrell, and several nieces and nephews.
Tom and Marion were fortunate to travel to many places, but their favorite trips were to New Brunswick to visit family.
