Obituary of Geraldine A. Trist

Geraldine A. Trist, 87, passed away on August 18, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Geraldine was born to Leo and Louise Wortman of West Point Nebraska on September 28, 1935.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. Trist; siblings and in-laws: Wilfred (Bill) and Libbie Wortman, Edward Wortman, Barbara Wortman, James (Pat) Peatrowsky, and Alvin (Al) Kloppenborg.

She is survived by her sons: Thomas L. Trist (Becky), Palm Bay, FL, Daniel R. Trist, Buchanan, MI and James E. Trist (Kathleen), Gloucester, VA; Grandchildren: Shella (Jacob) Cardillo, Florida, Thomas (Brianna) Trist, Florida, Emma Trist, Virginia, Jacob (Katelyn) Trist, Florida, Veronica Trist, Virginia, Juliana Trist, Virginia; siblings and siblings-in-law: Lenore (Nory) Peatrowsky, Leoba (Toby) Kloppenborg, Paul Wortman, Emily (Cindy) Wortman.

Gerry always had a smile and a friendly word for others. Her quick wit and joking sarcasm drew people to her. She loved volunteering whether at her children's schools, church, or the senior center. She had a knack for remembering everyone she met by name and for making them feel like they had known her for years. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and experimenting with new cooking recipes. You could depend on a full cookie jar and fabulous tales of her younger years. We will miss her every day and she will be forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held in West Point, Nebraska.
