Obituary of James Chilton Albright Jr.
James Chilton Albright, Jr., aged 80, died at his home in Malabar, Florida on June 30, 2023.
Jimmy was born on January 11, 1943, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to James and Esther Albright. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Illinois College and a Master's Degree in Environmental Science from Governors State University. From 1966 to 1967, he served in the U.S. Army in Texas.
In 1973, Jimmy moved to Winter Park, Florida and then to Jacksonville, Florida, where he opened a Cinema and Draft House. He relocated to Brevard County, Florida, in the early 1980s and worked as a property appraiser for Tuttle, Armfield and Wagner. He also began investing in real estate.
Jimmy became the owner of Indian River Landscaping in the early 1990s. He was known for his plant selection, planning, and attention to the smallest detail on every project, and won numerous awards throughout Brevard County.
Jimmy loved the outdoors. He had extensive knowledge of wildlife and native plants and enjoyed hunting. His home in Malabar was beautifully landscaped, and he maintained dozens of preserved animal and bird specimens in his house. He was a lifelong member of The Nature Conservancy.
Christmas was Jimmy's favorite time of the year. He will long be remembered dressed head to toe as Santa, with Mrs. Claus, two adult deer, and a full-sized sleigh, bringing joy to children and adults alike. His love for children was also expressed through his support of St. Jude's Hospital for Children and Pregnancy Resources.
Jimmy was an enthusiastic amateur historian whose extensive collection of family photographs, memorabilia, and antiques was proudly displayed in his home. He attended Northside Presbyterian Church in Melbourne, Florida.
Jimmy is survived by his brother and sister-in-law David and Beverly Albright of Crystal Lake, Illinois; his nephew, Adam Albright or Wonder Lake, Illinois; and his nephew Andrew Albright and Andrew's wife, Carrie Cimo of Longmont, Colorado.
