Obituary of Marie Gladys Hyppolite

Marie Gladys Hyppolite, 80, of Palm Bay, FL passed away on July 2, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Gladys was born in Petit-Goâve, Haiti to Émerita Maignant and Molière Gondré on May 12, 1943. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Maxime B. Hyppolite, and their children, Jean “Bob” (Vina), Guerda (Charles) Martin, Karla Jarvis, Nadeige (Lloyd) Francis, Max Hyppolite Jr., Thelma (Anthony) Hamilton, and Marilyn Hyppolite. Her grandchildren, Richard “Dewey,” Charlie Ann and Marc Tyler Jarvis, Lloyd “Danny,” Tatiana and Talia Francis, Hunter Bastan (great-grandchildren Xavier and Adrian) and Jasmine Hyppolite, Julia and Anthony “Ace” Hamilton, Isaiah and McKenzie Newton, Christina, and Jasmine Martin. She is also survived by her siblings Magalie Derenoncourt, Solange Maxi, Marlene Gondré, Molière Gondré, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Nichole Fievre, brothers Joseph and Fritz Gondré, and her son-in-law Rick Jarvis.

Gladys was a Jehovah’s Witness for over 46 years. She enjoyed volunteering her time to share what she learned from the Bible with others in the door-to-door ministry. Her selfless efforts aided many, including her children, to embrace Bible truths. Members of her congregation were family. It was not unusual for her to drop everything to lend a hand to a friend in need, provide a ride to the congregation meetings, offer a listening ear, or share a meal. She is most remembered for her infectious smile and the way she made others feel. As one person said, “She made me feel at home and part of her family.”

“Get up, keep moving, and always have a plan B,” words which she lived and instilled in her children. Known fondly as “Mommy Dadou” to her family, she loved to have fun! Part of the Olive Garden crew, she was a food and wine aficionado, in other words, she was a foodie before foodies became popular. She meticulously tended to her garden and shared the fruits of her labor with her friends and family.

Gladys will be remembered for her love, grace, strength, humility, and wisdom. Her faith and hope never wavered as she eagerly anticipated the coming new world. We take comfort in knowing that we will see her again in the near future, serving Jehovah alongside us.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 4:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 3395 Fell Rd. Melbourne, FL 32904.
