Obituary of Jacquelyn "Jackie" Dee (Mellberg) Chandler

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Dee (Mellberg) Chandler, 87, a longtime resident of Melbourne, Florida, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Advent Health Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Born on July 29, 1935, to Lenart Axel Mellberg and Merle Jeanette (Lundberg) Mellberg, in Lexington, Nebraska, she grew up in Northeastern Colorado where she met her husband, Wendyl B. Chandler.  They were married 45 years.  They moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1958 and later moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1983.

Jackie was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom while living in Longmont while raising three children, Connie, Valerie and Denise (d. 2012). She worked as an accountant during her working years both in Colorado and Florida.

Jackie loved her family and spent as much time as possible with her daughters and their families.  After moving from Melbourne, she lived with two of her grandchildren (Joey Meyer and Danielle Chandler) and great-grandson (Maverick Meyer) for 10 years, prior to her death.  She especially loved big family gatherings where she could see her grandchildren and great grandchildren interacting.

During vacations with Wendyl, she collected salt and pepper shakers, a hobby that eventually resulted in a collection of over 200 pairs of all shapes and sizes.  She also loved collecting porcelain dolls. Her two favorites, “Merle and Pearle” named after her mother and her mother’s twin sister. She also enjoyed quilting, painting and other various craft projects, especially if some of her family were there with her.

Jackie is survived by her two daughters, Connie Chandler and Valerie Williams, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, her brother, Kenneth Mellberg of Arvada, Colorado, sister, Karen (Mellberg) Greer of Westminster, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews from both Mellberg and Chandler families.

She had a strong faith in the Lord and reflected the love of Jesus in her life to her family, friends and others she met throughout her life.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Ammen Family Funeral Care, 1001 S. Hickory Street, Melbourne, Florida 32901. Ther will be a short viewing at 10:00 AM and a service at 10:30 AM followed by   Interment at Eau Gallie Cemetery, Melbourne, Florida.
